King Richard’s Refurbishes Sanctuary Lights for a church in Rolling Fork, Mississippi.

Restoring the Chapel: A Tornado’s Aftermath

In 2023, an EF-4 tornado tore through Rolling Fork, Mississippi, leaving the Chapel of the Cross Church severely damaged—nearly half of the building was destroyed.

Following the event, King Richard’s Liturgical Design was invited to help restore the church’s sanctuary lighting system.
The team offered a selection of antique fixtures that aligned with the church’s aesthetic vision, but required modernization to meet current lighting standards.

Restoration of Antique Lights

The restoration included refinishing each fixture with a metallic copper base and bronze detailing, replacing the original opaque glass with clear glass for enhanced illumination. Each light was also rewired and outfitted with candle-style housings featuring dimmable LED technology.

From Tragedy to Triumph: Illuminating the Chapel

We feel truly honored and blessed that the Chapel of the Cross entrusted us with restoring a cherished part of their sacred space. Witnessing their recovery after the devastating tornado has been deeply moving, and we’re grateful to have played a role in bringing light back to their sanctuary.

At King Richard’s Liturgical Design, our mission is to support churches in times of need—restoring not just fixtures, but the spirit and beauty of every worship space touched by tragedy.
