King Richard’s Liturgical Design and Contracting enhances worship space at St. Luke’s Church in Nicholasville, KY.
Updating a 100-year-old sanctuary with Carrara marble and creating coordinated liturgical items for the church.

Nicholasville, KY— July 29, 2024 — King Richard’s is proud to have completed the enhancement of another 100-year-old sanctuary and to have designed and executed complementary sanctuary items for St. Luke’s Catholic Church. This project combined the church’s historic past with its present functional needs. These updates reflect a commitment to both preserving tradition and enhancing the liturgical beauty of the space for generations to come.

Our dedicated team expertly replaced the wooden altar at St. Luke’s Catholic Church with an appropriate stone altar of carrara marble that was acquired from the Carrara mountain directly.  The marble was chosen to seamlessly matched the color and veining of the existing 100-year-old reredos. Additionally, KR crafted two marble pedestals for the Mary and Joseph statues, elevating their stature in the church and enhancing their presence.

The altar of sacrifice was also beautifully updated with a detailed Lamb of God carving, meticulously designed in collaboration with seven members of the KR team and Fr. Aldrin Tayag to achieve the desired aesthetic. After several interviews and meetings with various other contractors, KR was selected as the logical choice to lead the project as the design, production and installation team to provide the best fit for the vision of St. Luke’s Catholic Church.

To further integrate this renovation, King Richard’s also crafted a matching ambo to extend the visual harmony of the sanctuary and enrich the worship experience for the congregation.

On August 17, 2024, the Altar of Sacrifice was dedicated at St. Luke’s Church by Bishop Most Rev. John Stowe, of Lexington Diocese. Our team feels very privileged that a liturgical piece that we created and installed for the church was respectfully anointed by the bishop and blessed by the congregation. The dedication was a deeply spiritual event. Key elements of the ceremony included the anointing with sacred chrism, which consecrates the altar, the use of incense symbolizing the perfect sacrifice of Christ as an “odor of sweetness”, and the lighting of candles representing Christ as the “light to enlighten the nations.”

Michael Barone, King Richard’s Business Development Director of the Great Lakes area, compliments the dedication saying “It was a great joy to see all the beautiful Carrera Marble pieces carved by King Richard’s finally installed at St Luke’s Catholic Church and dedicated to God. Particularly the anointing and incensing of the Altar of Sacrifice. King Richard’s is honored to be a part of this beatification of the sanctuary.”

King Richard’s was honored to support Father Aldrin, Steve O’Daniels, Deacon Gary Rudemiller, and the staff of St. Luke’s Catholic Church in their renovation efforts as we worked collaboratively to bring this vision for their Sanctuary to life, proving once again that KR provides excellence in liturgical arts design, fabrication and installation.  KR offers the total package!
