King Richard’s fabricates, and installs a new handcrafted Gothic reredos, altar table, and credence table for St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Northeast Harbor, Maine.
The centerpiece of the project is a custom solid Koto wood reredos measuring 7 feet wide by 12 feet high. Inspired by traditional Gothic church architecture, the reredos features six elegantly carved Gothic spires, richly detailed relief-carved Gothic panels, and hand-carved columns that frame the central sanctuary composition. A carved IHS monogram highlighted with gold leaf serves as the focal point of the lower center panel, while integrated lighting illuminates the upper niche and enhances the visual prominence of the tabernacle area.
The mensa incorporates the sacred acclamation “Sanctus” carved three times, reinforcing the liturgical significance of the sanctuary furnishings. The parish-provided tabernacle and crucifix were integrated into the overall design to create a unified and reverent focal point for worship.
Complementing the reredos is a new altar table crafted entirely from solid Koto wood. The altar features pierced Gothic tracery panels and substantial buttress-style legs, reflecting the same architectural vocabulary and craftsmanship found throughout the sanctuary furnishings.
A matching credence table was also produced in solid Koto wood, carefully coordinated in scale, detailing, and finish to complete the sanctuary ensemble.
