A New OuTDoor 10 FOOT Gold Leaf Cross Created for the Prince of Peace Church in Taylors, South Carolina.
On December 4, 2025, a radiant copper cross, finished with shimmering gold leaf, was placed atop the Prince of Peace Catholic Church roof. This sacred gift, offered by a devoted parishioner and his wife, was given in honor of the unborn. Designed by King Richard’s Liturgical Design and Contracting, the cross was carefully shaped by our artisans from copper and then gracefully gilded with gold leaf.
The Prince of Peace Catholic Church remarks on their Facebook post, “This marks a beautiful moment in the life of our parish, as the sign of Christ’s triumph now crowns our roofline. We are deeply grateful for the engineering expertise and careful craftsmanship that made this possible. Though a few final details will be completed over the coming days, the cross now stands in its rightful place, blessing all who pass by. May this sacred symbol draw hearts to Christ and stand as a continual reminder of the dignity of every human life”.
CROSS INSTALLATION AND DELIVERY
The cross was carefully delivered to the church and installed a top of the church roof.
Shaping the Copper
The copper material was then shaped into the cross using a heating technique.
Applying the FinISH
The cross was prepared for its final stage of finishing, with hand-applied gold leaf over the surface.
BEFORE INSTALLATION
The church is delighted to gain a distinguished piece that would impart a reverent and faithful presence to its exterior.
PROTECTION OVER THE CHURCH
The cross atop Prince of Peace Church now stands as a radiant symbol of hope for the unborn. King Richard’s Liturgical Design and Contracting is honored to have provided the parish with this beautiful emblem of faith.
In a message shared on the church’s Facebook page, they reflected:
“On its very first night crowned upon our church, the new cross cast its shadow into the clouds—lifting the sign of our salvation toward heaven itself. A quiet reminder that Christ’s victory shines even through the mist. May the Holy Cross be our light and our protection.”
CUTTING THE COPPER
The copper sheets were first stenciled according to the supplied design specifications and then cut to the required dimensions.
PRIMING THE COPPER
After shaping the copper into the desired cross shape, the cross was primed for hand-applying the gold leaf finish.
