Marble Statue of St. Augustine Relocation

August 2026- Jersey City, New Jersey

King Richard’s Liturgical Design & Contracting was commissioned by the Archdiocese of Newark to carefully remove, relocate, and install the historic 8-foot limestone statue of St. Augustine from its existing location in Suffolk County, New York, to its new location in Jersey City, New Jersey.

The project began with the mobilization of King Richard’s experienced crew and specialized lifting and rigging equipment to safely remove the substantial marble statue. Due to the statue’s weight, a forklift was utilized to carefully disconnect and remove it from its existing base. Once removed, the statue was securely placed into the care of the King Richard’s team and prepared for transportation using appropriate padding, wrapping, and securing methods.

The statue was then loaded onto a transport vehicle and carefully transported from Suffolk County, New York, to Jersey City, New Jersey. The statue was securely supported to prevent shifting or damage during transit, with delivery logistics and site access coordinated in advance.

Upon arrival in Jersey City, King Richard’s provided the necessary lifting and rigging equipment to safely unload and position the tall statue on the Owner-provided foundation pad. The statue was carefully aligned, leveled, and secured in its new location, with final placement and stability verified.

Following installation, the limestone statue was cleaned and polished to remove accumulated dirt, staining, and environmental buildup. The cleaning included appropriate hand washing and buffing of the exposed surfaces.

Through careful planning, specialized equipment, and experienced handling, King Richard’s completed the safe removal, transportation, installation, and cleaning of the historic St. Augustine limestone statue, preparing for its continued presence in its new location in Jersey City.
