King Richard’s Provides Complete Renovation to St. Benedict’s Church in Duluth GA.

September 2012- Duluth Georgia-St. Benedict’s church in Duluth, GA had a complete renovation of their church sanctuary in 2012. The church was completely gutted and renewed with the help of King Richard’s Liturgical Design and Contracting and the church’s architects and contractors.

King Richard’s was contracted for the design, creation and installation of several new marble items for the church. The church assets provided included a reredos, altar of sacrifice, ambo, baptismal font, a mural, and floor medallion. King Richard’s also contributed to the church’s outdoor space providing life-sized bronze stations of the cross and a marble statue.

The collaboration between the design team and church leaders resulted in a stunning sanctuary, highlighted by meticulously crafted marble elements—including the reredos, altar of sacrifice, ambo, and baptismal font—all adorned with harmonious mosaics. King Richard’s installation team ensured the safe delivery and precise placement of these exquisite pieces, transforming the sanctuary into a visually captivating and reverent space.

King Richard’s artists contributed to the church’s aesthetic with a stunning mosaic floor medallion featuring a cross and the inscription “May the Holy Cross be my Light,” which was meticulously assembled and installed in the aisle of the church pews. Additionally, they painted a mural of the “Lamb of God” on site, prominently positioned in the main archway of the sanctuary, enhancing the sacred atmosphere of the space.

The design team and artists also meticulously crafted life-sized bronze Stations of the Cross, which were thoughtfully installed on cobblestone pedestals in the church garden, creating a serene and meaningful outdoor space for reflection and devotion.

The installation of the life-sized marble statue of St. Benedict outside the church sanctuary serves as a warm and inviting tribute to the saint, offering parishioners a visual reminder of his legacy and teachings as they enter the sacred space.

The meticulous design and strategic placement of elements in the sanctuary not only enhanced its liturgical appeal but also ensured that the space functioned effectively within its dimensions. This thoughtful approach ensured each piece was adorned with a mosaic element that resulted in a united space that matched the client’s aesthetic preferences.

INstallation

The meticulous work of King Richard’s Installation Team ensured that all custom marble liturgical pieces were not only safely delivered but also expertly assembled and installed on-site, including the intricate mosaic floor medallion and the Lamb of God mural, both of which were placed with care in their designated positions within the sanctuary.

In addition, King Richard’s provided life-sized exterior bronze Stations of the Cross and a exterior statue of St. Benedict in front of the church which were a major milestone in the project’s completion, as they not only enhanced the physical surroundings but also provided a visually striking representation of the church’s spiritual significance, setting the tone for its overall exterior aesthetic.

ReRedos

The reredos showcases exquisite craftsmanship with its hand-carved marble, featuring two elegant columns, a tabernacle stand, and a ciborium. At its center, a striking mosaic depicts a goblet adorned with the Christian monogram IHS, symbolizing the name of Jesus and emphasizing the sacred significance of the altar space.

Altar of Sacrifice

The Altar of Sacrifice was a masterpiece of craftsmanship, with its hand-carved details mirroring the beauty of the reredos. The marble depiction of the Last Supper at its center was a stunning work of art, surrounded by a golden mosaic that perfectly matched the one adorning the reredos behind it, creating a sense of continuity and cohesion in the sacred space.

Floor Mosaic

A magnificent floor mosaic was placed in the center hallway of the sanctuary. It features a golden cross and word “May the Holy Cross Be My Light”.

Baptisimal Font and AMbo

The marble ambo and baptismal font, intricately handcrafted by King Richard’s artisans, complement the reredos and altar of sacrifice, featuring exquisite mosaics with gold backgrounds and significant liturgical symbols.

Wall Mural

The Wall Mural of the Lamb of God, skillfully integrated into the sanctuary, showcases a profound delicacy in its design and installation execution, harmoniously enhancing the spiritual atmosphere of the space. Careful attention to detail ensured that it was seamlessly blended and placed on the wall perfectly.

OutDoor Stations oF The Cross

King Richard’s installation of large life-sized bronze Stations of the Cross transformed the church’s garden into a serene and contemplative space, highlighted by sturdy cobblestone brick pedestals that provide a strong foundation for each station. The careful measurement and cementing by the installation team ensured that these beautiful depictions are both stable and aesthetically pleasing, further enhanced by informative plaques that enrich the visitors’ understanding and appreciation of each station.

OutDoor Statue of St. Benedict

Lastly, this life-sized marble statue of St. Benedict, expertly designed and hand-crafted by King Richard’s team, was installed in front of the church to serve as a striking representation of the church’s namesake, symbolizing the values and traditions associated with St. Benedict.
