Hand Carved Crucifix Created for the Diocese of Sioux Falls, SD.

High Priest Crucifix for the Perpetual Adoration Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament

King Richard’s Liturgical Design and Contracting and  was honored to partner with the Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls in the creation of a custom, hand-carved “High Priest” Crucifix for the Perpetual Adoration Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Designed and crafted to the Diocese’s exact specifications, this monumental crucifix measures an impressive 7 feet, 10 inches tall by 5 feet, 3 inches wide, creating a powerful focal point for sacred worship and perpetual adoration.

The cross was handcrafted from solid oak and custom stained to match a wood sample provided by the Diocese of Sioux Falls. Suspended from the ceiling, the structure was carefully engineered for both beauty and long-term durability within the sacred space.

At the heart of the piece is a completely hand-carved corpus sculpted from premium linden wood. Unlike machine-produced carvings, every detail of the figure was individually carved by hand by the artisans at King Richard’s, preserving the depth, expression, and reverence expected in traditional ecclesiastical artwork. The corpus was then meticulously polychrome painted to reflect the Diocese’s approved design and imagery.

The four Evangelists featured at the ends of the cross were enhanced with genuine 23kt gold leaf accents.
